Over the past couple of weeks, viagra I have had the opportunity to do some junior high football officiating.  This past Tuesday two things happened.  One, viagra I realized I am not as fast I as used to be.  A 7th grader (a really fast 7th grader) broke a long run and as he was sprinting towards the end zone, I noticed not only was he pulling away from the players from the other team but also from me.  I almost thought about throwing a penalty flag out of disgust!

The second thing was much more inspirational.  The home team has a young man who loves to be around the team and help in any way he can, his challenge is that he is handicapped and confined to a wheel chair and has very limited motor skills.  Before the game, the home coach gathered the visiting coach and I and asked if we could run one extra play after time expired in the 4th quarter – a play where this young man could be given a hand off and run the ball for a touchdown.  We all agreed and looked forward to the extra play.

It just happened that the game was very close and the final play of the game, the visiting team had a chance to win the football game.  They had the ball only 3 yards away from the game winning score.  Their final play was a running play that was stopped less than a yard away from the winning touchdown.  When I blew the whistle that ended the game – I reminded each coach about the extra play.  The play would be inspirational but something that struck me even before the play started was how the visiting team responded.  They had just lost a tough game but the kids were excited to line up and be a part of this final play, I did not hear anything but excitement on the visiting team even after a tough loss.

The play itself was long.  Wheelchairs are not that fast and the play covered 99 yards.  I had no problems keeping up this time.  With about 25 yards until the end zone, several of the players on the home team started pushing the wheel chair to help is go faster.  The excitement on the boys face was evident and the excitement from players on both teams was evident.  It was cool and inspiring to see.
